NIE Marbella, prepared in private

For the apartment above Puerto Banús, the villa in Nueva Andalucía or a quieter life in the old town: the number your notary, your bank and the town hall will ask for, with the form, the fee and the cita previa arranged around your dates.

The number

One reference, asked for at every door

People arrive in Marbella with a plan already half signed: a reservation on an apartment on the Golden Mile, a villa to restore in Nueva Andalucía, a pension that will now be spent by the sea, children who start school in September. Each plan meets the same requirement early on. Spanish notaries, banks, utility companies and the town hall know a foreigner by one reference, the NIE, and very little moves until it exists.

The number is assigned by the Policía Nacional at an appointment. The real work comes before it: the form that matches your situation, the 790-012 fee settled with its correct code, a cita previa at an office of the province, and a file the officer can accept on the first visit. We prepare that part with you, quietly and in English, around the dates of your purchase or your move.

What the number opens

  1. Signing the escritura of a property before a notary
  2. Opening a Spanish bank account and arranging a mortgage
  3. Putting the utilities and the community of owners in your name
  4. Paying the taxes of an owner who lives abroad
  5. Registering as a resident, European or not
  6. Enrolling children at school and in the health service
  7. Buying and registering a car in Spain
  8. Selling, giving or inheriting a property in years to come

The folios

The procedures, arranged by who you are

Each folio sets out one procedure: who it concerns, the papers it asks for, and where it takes place in Marbella. Begin with the chapter that describes your passport, or with the property.

The way it is arranged

Four movements, from a first message to the morning itself

  1. A private conversation

You describe the purchase, the move or the residence you have in mind, by email or through the enquiry form. We answer with the procedure that fits your situation, and only that.

  2. The file, in order

We prepare the right form with you, the EX-15 for a buyer, the EX-17 for a card, the EX-18 for registration, the EX-19 for a relative, then check the papers and the 790-012 fee so the officer has nothing to hand back.

  3. The appointment

We look for a cita previa at the Comisaría de Marbella or another office of the province, on dates that respect your flights and your signing.

  4. The morning itself

You receive a short brief: the address, what to carry, what you may be asked. Afterwards, the next step, whether the padrón, the TIE or the notary.

Extranjería in Marbella, and the town hall

In Marbella, NIE requests are seen at the Comisaría on Avenida Arias de Velasco, whose foreigners’ unit also lists EU registration and TIE cards. Appointments are published for the whole province of Málaga, and the stations of Estepona and Fuengirola offer the same procedures a short drive along the coast. The padrón is a separate step, taken at one of the town hall’s four citizen offices: the old town, San Pedro Alcántara, Nueva Andalucía or Las Chapas.

The manner

Quiet, exact, and on your calendar

Discretion
Your situation is discussed with you alone, in writing. Passport copies and property papers serve your file and nothing else.
One file, from start to finish
Form, fee, appointment and documents are prepared as a single piece of work, so nothing hangs on a detail no one mentioned.
Your dates first
A purchase has a signing date and a move has flights. The appointment is planned around them, never the other way round.
In English, throughout
Each step is explained in English before it happens. Spanish is kept for the forms and the counter.

Asked in Marbella

Cita previa, extranjería, the padrón

The questions people type in Spanish, answered plainly. The full set, for Europeans and for everyone else, has a room of its own.

All common questions
Cita previa NIE Marbella: how do I book it?

Through the administration’s Cita Previa Extranjería booking, at sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es: select Málaga as the province, then the NIE procedure, then an office showing free slots, the Comisaría de Marbella among them. We look for the slot and prepare the file so the appointment is put to good use.

Where is extranjería in Marbella?

For a number, a green certificate or a card, extranjería in Marbella means the Policía Nacional’s Comisaría at Avenida Arias de Velasco 25, 29600 Marbella. Authorisations such as residence permits are handled by the government’s Oficina de Extranjería in Málaga.

What does the comisaría in Marbella handle for foreigners?

The police directory lists NIE certificates, EU registration (régimen comunitario), TIE cards, return authorisations, letters of invitation and nationality reports.

Huellas TIE in Marbella: which desk takes them?

Any police office that issues TIE cards. In Marbella, that is the Comisaría on Avenida Arias de Velasco; nearby, Estepona and Fuengirola list the same procedure.

Certificado de registro UE in Marbella: which form?

Form EX-18, presented at a police office of the province with your passport or identity card, the paid 790-012 fee and proof of your situation in Spain.

How does empadronamiento in Marbella work?

At one of the town hall’s four citizen offices, by appointment, with the hoja padronal and proof of address: for tenants a rental contract and a recent bill, for owners the deed, a nota simple or the IBI bill.

Beyond the number

Two firms for the rest of the move

A NIE is one document in a larger undertaking. Where your plans reach further than the number, these two independent firms take over a part we do not cover.
